Back now from the Illinois flatlands, where one can ride bikes along farm-country roads that are winding (well, they're actually on a perfectly square grid) through corn fields, soybean fields, and caterpillar fields. Number of cars seen on 7 mile bike ride: 0; Number of pedestrians seen: 0; Number of beer cans by the side of the road: 2 (Busch, and something-Ice); number of grafitti tags espied: 2 (on the road: "GET BLINGY" and on the stop sign: "Bitchass"); Number of wooly caterpillars I swerved the bike (and later car) to avoid running over: Dozens of dozens; Number of grasshoppers I did this for: 0. (Cuteness pays off as evolutionary tool?)

H.Gregor, take note!

Swiffer is a stupid word.
Swifter was almost a word, a better word.
Swiffer sounds like an ilicit club drug being abused by kids in Flint Michigan.
Swifter sounds like something you would use to mop your floor with, powered by batteries.
We rented Lars Von Trier's
Dogme95 film
The Idiots (Dogme #2) last night.
We liked it.
It was really good.
You should see it.
This is becoming my critique/response to nearly everything I experience with positive results lately. Lazy, but seems to cut to the chase.
"I went to see the Bryce Marden show at such-and-such gallery. It was good.
You'd really enjoy it. You should go see it before it comes down.";
"I went to see the movie
Sex and Lucia at the Sunshine the other day. It was surprisingly
great. I think you should see it. You would really love it." (same for
24 Hour Party People, it was really funny and nice looking, you should see it, you'll like it.);
"I hiked this beautiful trail to an alpine lake in the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area in Colorado. It was
so beautiful. You'd
totally love it. You gotta go!" ;
"I read this article in the Times Magazine about Coincidences... It was so interesting. You
especially should read it. You'll just die." ;
"The new
Wilco? It's really good. Just go buy it. You'll
definitely like it." ;
"...and we ate hamburgers at Café Lafayette beforehand. It's The Best Burger in town, No really. Just go there and order one. You'll like it."

This is Amy and Mike's baby, Maya. She's really cute and you should meet her. You'd Love Her.
