Or, if you're in this 'hood: Brooklyn Bluegrass with Citigrass again tonight at Galapagos, N.6th St., Williamsburg / 8-11 PM. They were smokin' last week and you need a glass of whiskey don't you?

So after the polygymous concert triptych (vs. sharon's monogomous tindersticks 3-nighter-) weekend (from which i've started to recover) ...Some numbers are in order: Ratio of concerts to evenings.......................... 3:3 # Glasses of whiskey consumed........................ 2 Ratio of beer to whiskey consumed................ 1:2 # of Lee Hazlewood songs played by Tindersticks: 1 # of L. Hazlewood songs played by D.J. afterwards at Low: ............................................................ 1 # of people told at Low, by Sxx, that I was Willie Nelson's great-grand daughter (!?) who also believed it ....................................................... 1 height-tall, in feet, of Flood lights spelling out his own name (BOWIE) behind him on stage ......... .8 Row we were seated in at The St.Anne's Warehouse Tindersticks show ............................................. 2 # People deep we stood from stage at Wilco...... 10 # of them younger than us............................ 80% Estimation count of David Bowie's songs which are about stars, outer-space, or Mars........... almost all # of songs Bowie sang which were about Fear or Fearing Americans........................................... 3 Cost in US dollars for a Wilco ticket ............... $25 Cost in US dollars for a Bowie concert tshirt ... $37 Hour in the morning which we got home after Tindersticks Show............................................ 4 # of Naps taken during weekend....................... 2 # of cups of tea guzzled before Bowie................ 6 # of drummers fallen in love with*..................... 1 # times Simone De Beavoir was mentioned on stage**........................................................... 1 # times masturbation was mentioned on stage***..................................................... 2 # Encores by Bowie.......................................... 1 # Encores by Tindersticks.................................. 2 # Encores by Wilco ........................................... 3 # of Concerts we have tickets to next week ........ 2 * It's a Wilco Song! Although he was unbearably cute. ** Bowie mentioned her, in reference to a leather jacket she once gave him, which he made sound like it was a bit too large for the svelt David. *** By Califone, Wilco's opening band. NEWLY EDITED FOR TYPOS AND BAD SENTENCE STRUCTURE FRIDAY, 12:34 AM / OCT 18, 2002 S and I haven't taken the Lee Hazlewood off rotation from the discplaying thingie for over 12 hours. (((((((((((( Realizing that Beck's latest album, Sea Change's 2nd song Paper Tiger samples or riffs Serge Gainsboug's Histoire de Melody Nelson* background strings symphony! Crafty Beck. )))))))))))) ![]() ![]() Looking at Jan Groover. Thinking about forks. Seeing Michael Moore's Bowling for Columbine. Can't stop thinking about that South Park creators' cartoon in the middle of the film. Totally Amazing! Worth your $9 for that excerpt, alone. And what weird timing. Did they catch that Sniper yet? Why is the sky so bright tonight? I want to do a cropping project. Later. I bought a cd from a guy playing the banjo clawhammer style on the L train platform primarily out of blissful glee that he wasn't playing the pan flute. He calls himself Uncle Fruit Jar. There are other bands with the word uncle in their name. There is Uncle Tupelo (possibly my favorite band-which-is-no-longer-together-but-is-still-alive, and if it weren't for them among this list, I might say 'stay away from bands with the word uncle in their name because it's a ploy'. But I like Unlce Fruit Jar, too.) But then there's Uncle Fugger (local; no really, they exist). Uncle Shaker. Unkle. Uncle. Say Uncle. Uncle Dirty Toes. Uncle Sam's Dream Machine. My Dead Uncle. Uncle Sloppy. Uncle John's Band (guess what they do). Uncle Fucker, the band. Uncle Seth. Uncle Irene (a woman-powered band). And there's David Bowie, whose band name doesn't have Uncle in it, but who i might be going to see play, perhaps, this Sunday. IN fact: Insane line-up for the week: Wed: Burn This! Thurs: practice banjo and make new splash page and stay up till 1:52am Friday: Wilco at Roseland Saturday: Tindersticks at St. Anne's Warehouse, D.U.M.B.O, Brooklyn Sunday: Bowie? I told you. Insane. I'm tired.
*If you aren't in posession of this, git on it, tout suite.
I WISH I WERE JOAN BAEZ TODAY THURSDAY, 11:00 AM / OCT 10, 2002 ![]() »Here, A Slideshow. But not so much a slide show as a PhotoAlbum. But more of PhotoGrid: Coney Island, Dining at restaurants, WB's Southside...And some round things. + LAUNCH ANOTHER-WEEKEND-IN-BROOKLYN PHOTOSPREAD + There are A billion people living in India. Skulls and cross bones on socks. I dreamt of an Italian chef with big white hat trashing my apartment. My cat was a teenage daughter. Need more fluorescent pink paperclips. How would I get poured hot wax out of polyester pants if I poured hot wax on my polyester pants from a candle at a restuarant while i was trying to cast wax into a thingie i made? An organic, vegetarian lunch with seaweed and then a large bag of Cheetos. I have stuff to mail you. Calloused finger tips. Iggy Pop and Tom Tom Club and Sticky Fingers. And The Cars' I guess you're just what i needed.... Oh Man, I love the web for this (via heif via lightningfield) + + + +
